I'll be there.

Can someone familiarise me more with the Africa Development Program? I think I may have some excellent collaborators in mind.
From Jaques Rousseau, a philosopher and ethicist at Uni Captetown, in response to my invitation to review and perhaps join in the effort of seeding Praxis:

I’m involved in 2 funding proposals that overlap with Praekelt’s work at UCT, and members of our information systems department have been actively involved in existing work on app development and cellphone access in Africa. So in other words, there’s a network in place, and some potential synergies with your ambitions in this regard.

I've included a short digest of the sort of information I imagine you are interested in, Barrett.

Howdy-

I'd like to start up the fund we'll be using to pay for whatever "viral" health information experiments/applications that we'll end up doing under the Africa Development Program. I've got a little money that I can throw in and I'll also be able to raise a bit more on my end soon. Does anyone know how such a fund should best be established? And if possible I'd like someone with basic knowledge of finances and bank accounts and whatnot to administer the fund - perhaps Clark or Scott or both?

Also, I've asked Emma to identify some good sci/journ pairs from our spreadsheet now that we've added a few more very good ones over the past week, and if any of you would have an interest in helping me to get this rolling by suggesting additional pairs, please do so and send me the names you come up with so I can make the introductions. I'm also going to be asking those who do get articles sold to consider donating ten percent of the proceeds to the Africa fund. Meanwhile, in relation to Clark's question from a few days back regarding how difficult it will be for us to help them to get those articles placed, I've just sent an e-mail to my old friend/colleague Sam Apple who is the founder of The Faster Times and asked if he'd be interested in running those to which authors retain reprint or other pertaining rights as well as any which simply don't manage to get placed elsewhere, and to suggest any other editors up there who might also like to take a look at the articles. I'll be making similar queries as we proceed further.

Please forward this e-mail to anyone else within PM or without to whom it might be relevant.

We'll be meeting on Wednesday as usual to discuss several important questions about the two-subprograms in particular as well as how we can assist Dr. Lipp's First Praxis initiative and perhaps benefit from the informational resources to which we'll be privy through Lipp's arrangements with other organizations.

Thanks, all.
