to read, I'm sort of browsing through it to see how she handled
certain things. Kind of makes me miss Topiary, although no one else.
Also, regarding Ryan Cleary, the English douche with whom I had a
couple of run-ins before he decided to leak all the Anonops IPs and
then worked with Lulzsec and got arrested: "Ryan was like the kid in
school that people didn't necessarily like but whom they were
compelled to befriend because he had a brand-new Hummer and a house
with a pool." That's actually Olson's words, summarizing everyone
else's views on the poor guy. Very amusing stuff. There's also a part
in here where Topiary gets drunk and I wake up the next morning with
drunken voice mails from him making fun of my use of the term
"pursuant," which I used to use a lot.

Commander X is saying that he was talking to Barr in that convo

case;
that convo Julian Goodspeak (Barr) was having was with ben De

not X. And Olson incorrectly says it was X, when it wasn't - it
was
de

it's all so convoluted, and god knows what X told her.

twenty
pages
of
Dharma
Bums
didn't inspire me to actually finish it,
as
there
were
other
things
I
was more interested in. I understand that
they
introduced
some
things
that were of value, partially in terms of
sensibilities
that
couldn't
be expressed legally or by convention. And
their
own
exploits
are
interesting enough to me that I've read
about
it,
mostly
centering
on
William Burroughs. I think highly of
Junkie,
especially
because
Burroughs was being commissioned to write
what
was
essentially
supposed to be some exploitation paperback
and
he
ended up
transcending the medium to create
something
that
was
actually
worthwhile and interesting. But things
like
Naked
Lunch,
which
I
actually bought and read a long time ago,
I
just
don't
see
as
something that anyone should feel
compelled
to
read;
there
are
a
lot
of conventions being broken and that's all
well
and
good,
but
the
fact
is that someone who is very, very high on
opiates -
and
Burroughs
was
taking this ridiculous German opiate which
is
much
more
powerful
than
heroin - can write down any nonsense and
be
satisfied
with
it,
but
unless the book comes sold with that same
powerful
opiate
so
that
the
reader can also be satisfied with whatever
pseudo-random
bullshit
the
author wrote, it's just kind of a cruel
thing
to
throw
out
to
the
public. The film that was made out of it
was
actually
very
worthwhile,
and if you haven't seen it, you should; we
can
watch
it
when
you
come
down. It has Ginsburg and Kerouac, plus
certain
of
the
dynamics
between all of them, in slightly disguised
forms.
Anyway, politically, I respect Ginsburg as
a
strong
advocate
for
acceptance of sexuality beyond the
heterosexual
norm
at a
time
when
being such an advocate was obviously more
difficult
than it
is
now.
But I find him personally irritating. And
Burroughs
is
a
very
interesting person, but if you ever see a
clip
of
him
giving
his
talks
to universities as he did for quite a
while
as a
means
of
making
a
living before he gained his eventual cult
status
(and
did a
Nike
commercial, lol), he just throws out a lot
of
commonplaces
about
how
nuclear war is bad and how Americans are
hypocritical
and
stupid
-
things that are true but which don't take
any
real
genius
to
figure
out and re-phrase.
In conclusion, I have a hard time
answering
questions
in
less
than
two
paragraphs.
Here's Ginsburg appearing on William
Buckley:

watched
much.
There's
actually
only
one
that
really
needs to
get
watched,
and
it's one
on
which I
don't
actually
appear
except
for
my
picture
and
quote,
after
I
released a
report
on
this
Romas/COIN
capability,
and
they
discuss
why
it's
important.
Been
trying
to
get
shit
back
on
track
in
terms
of
bringing
attention
to the
propaganda
issue, so
just
wrote
another
blog
post
and
zoned out
while
writing
it
for
several
hours.
Then
remembered
that
Assange
extradition
hearing
is
like
right
now
and
stuff
might
go
down.
Gonna
take a
look-see.
Anything
interesting
going
on?
