I just want to tell you something for the record.

I get a great deal out of even the limited contact we've had so far. It's very wonderful for me to be able to talk to someone about some of the unusual things I'm involved in, and to know that that person understands them. More than that, every male wants to be able to impress a female with whatever he's supposedly done. And aside from whatever noble reasons I might possibly have to have done certain things, you're the exact sort of female that makes these things worth it beyond politics; as in, there's a part of me that wants to get things done out of some committment to justice, and there's another part of me that wants to have some sort of life beyond whatever sacrifices I have to make, and the part of me that wants me to be happy wants to impress someone exactly like you, because of what you are. That you understand these issues and all of that is one thing; and your wider personality is another part of it; but a singificant part of it is also that you're physically beautiful. If you were just beautiful, I'd be attracted to you in some way. But that, combined with how you think, makes me want to have a chance to have you with me so that I can fuck you, take you to a bar, tell you amusing anecdotes, have you tell me some as well, and all of that. Having all of this would make me happy, and that's what I want right now. It's a rare and lucky thing to happen to come into contact with someone that you're fond of.

It's nothing life-shattering, but on top of all the FBI shit, I have to appear in court in Austin on the 19th of next month to deal with a probation violation charge. I used my friend Mirna's car to go get cigarettes when I was visiting her in 2004 after getting back from Mexico and heading to New York, and I hadn't driven in a while, so forgot to turn the headlights on while driving back from the 7-11 five blocks her place. Got pulled over, agreed to do the breathalyzer, and my alcohol level was a bit over the limit (Texas has one of lowest limits in U.S.). Managed to do a gig at Nerve.com in NYC but then had to come back to Austin for court, got put on a really expensive 18-month probation, and then a few months later got laid off from my copywriting gig. Thus had no money to pay the remaining "court costs" and monthly probation fee, much less the rent on apartment I'd sublet. My only good option was to take a job as an office furniture mover at a weird "company" my dad was working for in Dallas (actually a Pentecostal church run by a former stockbroker, long story). But the probation office wasn't interested in allowing me to change cities, whereas if I'd stayed I would have ended up getting my probation revoked and ending up in a state prison. So I just "jumped" probation and went to go live on my dad's floor for about five months and worked 10-hour days moving metal desks out of office buildings so I could pay for the apartment I wasn't living in and hopefully save up money. So a new warrant went out for my arrest, except they never found me (they've got tons of other probation violators to deal with aside from me). Eventually I managed to start selling articles that I wrote in the evenings and weekends and got a political analysis gig for an online outlet and all that, and finally moved back to Austin, leaving under sub-leases so that I wouldn't get swept up in warrant raids, and eventually moved to New York anyway. Then, after the FBI raided my apartment here in Dallas, they gave the Dallas Police my info, so I was arrested two days later and spent another day in city lockup. Now I've had to pay a lawyer $3,500 to handle the case, another $1,000 for more court costs, and depending on what the judge thinks about my explanation, I'll either have to go back on some new probation, or end up doing half a year in county, which would have a serious impact on my ability to respond to the various other issues, particularly the FBI investigation and whatever Barr/Ryan/Hoglund etc have planned for me next. Possibly I'll be able to spend any time incarcerated writing something of value, but obviously it's not something I look forward to. So, long story short, it's impossible for me to make any life plans at this point, between this and the prospect of a federal trial as well.

But there's nothing to be done about it; people like that, if called out, will just feel the need to go on the attack even more. By no means is she the worst I've had to live with. It's best just to "idle" there. Mostly what we do is add to the wiki at echelon2.org, which is currently the only repository of its kind on the intelligence contracting industry, and work with journalists and activists who want to know more about the problem.  On Sat, Apr 21, 2012 at 8:09 PM, Evie Mercer <mercerevie@gmail.com> wrote: I will. I absolutely will check it out. I'm fed up to be real, with anonymous in general. What times would you say the pm irc is most active? Thanks for being such a transparent person really, the less ego and more real talk, the better. <3 evieOn Sat, Apr 21, 2012 at 9:01 PM, Barrett Brown <barriticus@gmail.com> wrote: Although there's always gossip, Anonops having been somehow infiltrated is something I've heard from people I've come to rely on, particularly lately. But Anonops is largely useless now anyway and nothing compared to what it was a year ago. I don't remember hearing of anyone named Tim Wheeler. Feel free to get involved with Project PM. I hear what you are saying, and it makes sense. As someone who has been involved with this shit since chanology, and who keeps running into newfags who, once they learn about how anonymous (i use the term loosely- encompassing the offshoots) works, suddenly start dictating how things should be run. (Something that afflicts every group from Occupy to lessons learned from Orwells' "Animal Farm, to  your basic rock bands I know, but I don't know how else to portray it.) It is hard for me to know who to trust, and not in a "who do i trust with my deepest secrets, lolz" type of way, more of a "who's info do i buy as legit, whose info do i even begin to rely on in order to get anything done." Have you heard anything about Anonops itself being corrupted? I have heard whispers, and yet, of course, that is all they are.I decided to reach out to you mainly due to reading the pastebins of your conversations with Emick - I have no tolerance for, as I've said, personal b.s and families being targeted with no real reason. Can I ask you, are you aware of someone by the name of Timm Wheeler? He seems to be a target of many and the underlying vibe of the whole thing is that he is collecting information to sell to undesirables. It's not something I am too worried about right now, however I have been told to be wary. I hope you are doing well Barrett.<3 evieOn Sat, Apr 21, 2012 at 5:50 PM, Barrett Brown <barriticus@gmail.com> wrote: Unfortunately, the same factors that allowed Anonymous to bring in people and work dynamically are also at play here. There's little quality control, and thus those who are here to contribute to reasonable causes find themselves having to deal with those who are here because they enjoy feeling a sense of collective power. It attracts the best and the worst, sort of like an army or a government.  There's nothing I can do about this other than to promote the notion that the actual work might be better conducted via smaller cells that cooperate among one another in a loose association, and which run themselves however they see fit, sort of like how the U.S. state "laboratory system" was intended - tactics and methods of organization that prove viable can be widely adapted. This is why the campaign against the intelligence contractors is run out of Project PM's IRC, rather than Anonops, where it started. I've been following your work since you first came to light and I really think you are one of the few people brave enough to risk shit in the name of exposing corruption, truth, whatever you want to call it. Certain Ops are being sabotaged currently, lives are being put at risk in the name of egos and I thought I would reach out to you, to see if this is something you've noticed as well. One of the most important aspects of our work, being making sure those in government-inflicted turmoil have access to secure servers, the ability to communicate anonymously, and even to access the internet by bypassing firewalls, is so important, and something I've been directly involved in, and it crushes me to see this be deliberately compromised because of personal vendettas, and worse. People's very lives are being put at stake because of ignorant fuckheads putting their egos above ops.. of course all groups get corrupted but it really pisses me off of late.I wish I had more to say, and I apologize for wasting your time as I know you have bigger fish to fry, but I thought why not, might as well see if you have any input. I would also be keen to help, anyway I can. I used to pop in to your tinychats but I have noticed they don't occur as often.I hope you are staying safe and doing o.k. We are the same age, welcome to 30. lol. :) <3evie -- Regards,Barrett Brown940-735-9748 -- Regards,Barrett Brown940-735-9748 -- Regards,Barrett Brown940-735-9748 -- Regards,Barrett Brown940-735-9748 -- Regards,Barrett Brown940-735-9748 -- Regards,Barrett Brown940-735-9748
