Hi, guys—
So just to review: today, before close of business (so let’s say 4:00 Eastern time at the latest) you’ll email the ms to Julia, and cc me, along w/ a precursor note that
A) thanks her for her patience;
B) reiterates that you’re very much looking forward to her editorial input; and
C) reminds her that you have some legal concerns, and you’d love to review them with her
once she’s finished the manuscript. [She’d mentioned trying to address that stuff THIS week, but that seems silly—I want her to have read the ms first.]
If (for the sake of argument) there’s one chapter (the epilogue, say) that feels especially rough to you, it’s probably wise to say so in your covering note—in which case you’ll need to assure her that you you’ll polish it immediately but
are including it here because you wanted to give her as close to a full manuscript as possible.
