Hi, fellas--
So we're five days from D-Day. Technically, because the 15th falls on the weekend, I'm sure it would be fine w Julia if you deliver Monday morning.
The ms itself needs to come from Gregg; Barrett and I should be cc'd. Gregg, you'll need to give her some opening 'testimony' so to speak abt the your feeling abt the book generally (positive of course); thank her for giving you a couple of extra weeks; and emphasize that you know she's going to have strong editorial input once she has had the time to read it, and that you both welcome that feedback and to engaging in the editorial process with her.
Obviously I have no idea how the progress is going at this stage. Gregg, if you're NOT going to be delivering Monday morning, then you need to speak w her (not email, not voice message--actual conversation) regarding status this week. DIRECT communication from you at this stage is what's going to be required--having me be the messenger at this stage will hurt, not help, the cause. The exception to that: on Thursday I would like to send her an email confirming that she'll have it Monday--unless she WON'T, in which case (as above) you'll need to speak with her.
Please RSVP about all this, so I can be in position to field a call if she contacts me. And if you want to talk, by all means call.
