Thanks for getting back to me so quick. I'm a reporter with IDG News Service, part of the company that publishes titles such as Computerworld and PC World. I write a fair amount about computer security, including Anonymous, and wanted to see if you could help me with a story.
I'm writing a story about how likely/unlikely it would be for Anonymous (or factions of Anonymous) to go after large-scale targets such as power grids, root DNS servers, etc. I've spoken with a couple of analysts who follow Anonymous, one of whom said it hard to predict what any decentralized organization might or might not do, to another who said Anonymous would be foolish to attack power grids, as they'd be labeled as terrorists and be ever more targeted by law enforcement. I was wondering what your take on this might be.
Also, I've been chatting via e-mail with a 23-year-old guy who wrote me after I filed the story on the threat against the root servers. He goes by the name "Raven" and said he's pretty active on the AnonOps IRC channel. I'd like to quote him in my story, but want to verify that he is indeed known and is active in Anonymous circles. He said he's had a bit of contact with you. Does he sound familiar? He's been writing me from this e-mail address: ren.saiyuri@gmail.com.
I can give you a ring if you think it's easier to chat over the phone. Best, Jeremy Kirk Sydney Correspondent IDG News Service Phone: +61 4487 81243
