Dear Barrett,
Hello; hope all's well.
I've had an unexpected response to a pitch following the interview I did with you the week before last. As you may recall, I'd intended to use it as part of a piece looking at the Stratfor hack, but suggested to my editor at Defense Technology International (defense monthly from the Aviation Week group) that it might work in their First Person slot, which is a two page Q/A, usually with a CEO from a big defense prime. Somewhat to my surprise - I thought it was a long shot - he's commissioned it for their March edition.
Three questions, therefore:
1. Are you OK with this? As it's very different from the original intention, I feel obliged to give you the opportunity to refuse permission for me to use it if you're not happy about this very different context.
2. If, however, you're still OK about it, would you be up for another few minutes on the phone to broaden the discussion out a little? DTI distribute about 35,000 copies each month to a global readership primarily made up of people in various militaries and defense contractors, and I imagine that there may be things about Antisec, Anonymous and Project PM you may be particularly keen to talk about for that kind of audience.
3. If you are up for it, I'll need to get a photo of you, and wondered if you've got one they could use.
Please let me know what you think when you have a moment.
Cheers,
