The Unforgettable Gift

What do you give a girl in rural Africa when you decide to send her to school?
The other day I sat down and made a list. Today, I would like to share it with you.
-
Knowledge
- Confidence
-
A route out of poverty
-
Improved health
-
Increased income
-
Choices
-
A chance to pursue her dreams
These are life-changing gifts. And when you send a girl to school in the name of someone you love, you are changing his or her life, too - connecting them with the hope and excitement of a girl who will now have life choices she had never before dreamt of.
I invite you to listen to the words of Talent, age 22, a university student who lost her parents at the age of eight. Talent speaks with great passion about her yearning to go to school as a child. "I didn't want to continue to struggle, being poor all the time," she says. "I wanted to change my life through education. I knew people who had done it, and they were my inspiration."
Talent is now in medical school, and she has a vision for her future: she plans to prevent disease in remote regions of Zimbabwe by bringing communities vital health information. "Through education, I can prevent thousands of people from dying needlessly," she says.
Talent is living proof: when you send a girl to school, you change not just her life, but the lives of everyone she touches.
Give the unforgettable gift of education today. It is a gift that will live on for generations.
Warmest regards,
