the two bills pending in Congress may be detrimental to the
telecommunications industry. If approved, HR 155 and S 652 would affect cable
TV rate deregulation and broadcast station ownership. The proposed
legislation would also extend the role of the Justice Dept. in determining
when Bell regional holding companies may enter new lines of business.
