This piece links to some of the relevant documents in which those proposals are spelled out: http://www.thetechherald.com/article.php/201106/6798/Data-intelligence-firms-proposed-a-systematic-attack-against-WikiLeaks. The various e-mails can be found by going here http://search.hbgary.anonleaks.ch/ and searching "Themis," "Wikileaks," etc.

As for Barr, I think alleged national security concerns matched with economic pressures and a need to tackle challenges are sufficient to explain why he'd be willing to act as he did.

Hi Barrett,

Sorry for pestering you with random emails every 3 weeks (!). I'm 2 days away from filing my piece and I wonder whether you can direct me to the incriminating HB Gary emails that were published, revealing its proposal to discredit journalists and attack Wikileaks. Is there a link - are the emails still online? Can you help me find the needle in the haystack, as it were - I'd like to draw attention to actual correspondence.

I'm puzzled by how Aaron Barr, a Democrat, who was against the Iraq war and is a stiff critic of Walmart, would happily attack liberal journalists - something doesn't add up about that. I hope you can help me out.

I'm around all day today, if you would sooner discuss it.

Thanks so much,

Sanjiv

Sanjiv-

I won't be at DefCon but I'm available if you'd like to speak further, particularly about the intelligence contracting industry and related topics, which we've continued to look in to.

Hi Barrett,

I'll be at DefCon this weekend and I was wondering whether you might be there too? If so, let me know, I'd like to buy you a drink if possible.

At some point, I'd love to catch up with you. Our first interview was wide ranging and very interesting, but not always that specific. I'd like to hone in on some of the issues we discussed when you're ready. I'm putting my notes together right now.

On another note - I've been speaking with your friend Gregg Housh too, very nice guy. I expect to see him at DefCon all being well.

I hope you're doing well. It'd be great to hear from you.

Best,

Sanjiv
