Gregg
I have some homework for you, in the meantimea series of questions that I need answers to (from you specifically, so that Barrett can stay working on the revisions), via email. Im going to do them one question at a time so you can respond to them as youre ablebut these are important for ME to know, as your agent, since I DONT actually know. MAYBE some of what comes up belongs in the proposal, maybe it doesntmaybe Ill use it in my pitch letter etcbut I definitely need it.
Please just respond via emailthis is for me and/or Barrett, completely confidential (ALWAYS!) and I dont want you to worry about it them being literary or anything like thatjust unselfconscious emails.
- Question #1: My understanding is that part of the arc of the Scientology narrative is that they put considerable resources into making an example of youtrying to ruin you even, perhaps. How long did the trial go on, how expensive was it for you personally, did any donors emerge (known or Anonymous) to help cover those expenses, how terrifying was that initially, what it felt like to be (as I understand it) the whipping boy/target of a huge corporation with limitless resources at its disposal; and to what extent that experience, especially your emerging victorious, forged a new determination and/or confidence about how far you could go down the path of activism.
Just riff, OK? If you run out of time then just hit SENDbut I need to hear from you on this, cuz this personal stuff isnt in the proposal, nor have you ever told me about this.
Thanks. And there will be more of these questions, but this (for now!) feels like the most important one.
-Dan

Yeah, I will be home late tonight. Whenever I get home we can talk.

Thanks, these and the previous edits look good.
Gregg, can we try to talk today? One of the main things Daniel needs is for this to have more to do with you and your standpoint, so I need to get info from you about your impressions/interactions with Owen, Topiary, OpNoPro, and whoever else is listed here that you may have interacted with, or otherwise any interesting folks you know that I don't.

Guys, I'm feeling REALLY excited about this proposal. This end section (attached) has so much cool stuff in it--really fascinating, often funny, utterly suggestive of the Funhouse that this story contains.
Still, a lot of work to do, as we hone this and fill in the blanks. I've got some very specific requests / suggestions inserted throughout, so I'll shut up and let you review them yourself. Can you guys try to get on the phone together once you've both read through all this, talk through what's feasible, how to do it, what's stupid and to be ignored, etc, so that we're certain you're both on the same page here?
And obviously I'm available to discuss anything you'd like to talk about.
Thanks--
Dan
