It's entirely free. This has been available since after the initial raids in January, when I brought on Stanley Cohen as well as the National Lawyer's Guild to provide consultations to those involved; Cohen is now representing the 19-year-old-girl, and the NLG should be able to represent those facing charges in New York. For those facing charges in the Northern District of California, I have a couple of others lined up and they're now coordinating with the NLG as of today. As for the NLG's reasons for doing this, I don't want to speak for them but you can reach the director, Heidi Boghosian, at director@nlg.org.

Hi,

I am following the Anonymous story here at the Financial Times and was interested in the offer of legal assistance that you have extended to the arrested Anonymous members. How does this work? Is this free legal aid? What is the National Lawyer's Guild's interest in providing this assistance?

Many thanks,

Maija
