Win Tickets to The Mikado
The Gilbert & Sullivan Society of Austin presents its production of The Mikado, June 9th - 19th. Populated with memorable characters and colorfully exotic costumes and sets, The Mikado is wildly funny. This operetta delighted audiences for more than a century, and is perhaps the most popular comic opera ever written. The Mikado is filled with masterful Gilbertian lyrics and magnificent Sullivanian musical “hits,” conveyed with orchestral brilliance.

This month,
Ancient Voices is presenting listeners with some of the most popular shows from past seasons. Here’s what host Sara Hessel has planned for you for the month of June:
June 5th: That Old Song and Dance — Songs and ballads from France and Scotland, and dances for a variety of instruments including organ, harpsichord, and winds.
June 12th: Music by Johann Hermann Schein — A selection of Schein’s vocal and instrumental music performed by groups like La Capella Ducale and Cantus Cölln.
June 19th: Music from the time of the Crusades — If there had been Billboard charts in the Middle Ages, guys like Walther von der Vogelweide and Thibaut de Champagne would have been at the top!
June 26: Tour of Italy — Not just a bike race! We’ll hear from Corelli, Gesualdo, Gabrieli and more!
