Harry Reid.

It seems there's nothing he won't do to expand government power and trample on the Constitution - including breaking his word to Rand Paul and the American people.

But if you and your fellow Campaign for Liberty members take a stand today, C4L can send a strong message to Reid and his fellow statists that no amount of parliamentary tricks will end our opposition to their statist agenda.

Urge them to reject Reid's tricks and demand he abide by his promise to the American people to allow full debate and an open amendment process.

Last February, Harry Reid promised Senator Rand Paul (and the American people when his comments were deliberately inserted into the congressional record) that he would allow at least a week of debate and an open amendment process before the final vote to extend the misnamed "Patriot" Act.

Last night, however, Reid pulled the same type of tricks he used to ram through ObamaCare to shut off debate and prevent Senator Paul from introducing an amendment to protect law-abiding gun owners from the "Patriot" Act's reach.

And sources on the Hill informed me that he tried earlier today to persuade Rand to allow him to further manipulate the cloture process.

After Rand turned down this compromise, he took to the Senate floor to expose the "Patriot" Act for the unconstitutional abuse of power that it is.

Now he needs C4L to stand with him to protect the Fourth Amendment by sending a loud and clear message to Congress.

My staff and I often hear from those who think it does no good to contact their elected officials. But this is exactly the kind of frustrated response they hope to create in freedom-loving activists. They think that if they ignore you long enough, you'll just go away and leave them free to gain more power.

Fellow patriot, this is exactly the time we must let them know we will NEVER back down to tyranny - that they will always hear our voices, and that we will always be there to hold them accountable.

Don't get discouraged. Redouble your efforts, fight back, and turn UP the pressure. Let them know you won't play their games any more.

If they realize they can get you to back down on something as critical as opposing the "Patriot" Act, then they'll be encouraged to continue shredding the Constitution on every other issue.
