ABSTRACT
The chapter starts with the meaning and definition of human rights as inalienable rights irrespective of geography, race, religion, color, gender or political thoughts. Then, it goes to explain evolution of universal human rights; the way all human societies, with variety of different conceptions and nomenclatures, agreed on their universality, recognizing them in the International Legal Documents. Further, the focal point of the paper is the various binding nature of human rights protected in international human rights legislation, particularly, how they are enforceable, owing to a treaty, customary international law, or national or domestic legal regimes. It also throws light on the implementation of human rights against sovereign States. At the end, the legal status of India and Pakistan has been elaborated, regarding the recognition of international human rights documents.
