Hi, Patrick-

Thanks for getting in touch. I'd have particular use for you insomuch as that our main projects involve devising new methods by which to use the internet for activism, for which we're putting together a guide, and doing crowd-sourced research on the intelligence contracting industry. Are you familiar with what was turned up via the HBGary affair and all that? You should take a look at our wiki which we're building for the purpose of establishing a comprehensive data set on firms that are involved in such dangerous develops as "persona management" and mass surveillance and data mining software. Here's the wiki; http://bit.ly/e7Sbye. You might check the Media Reports section first to get an overview of what we're looking at exactly and why it concerns us. And here's info on how to get started with us in general, including our IRC address: http://pastebin.com/QNuXwRTn

I'm a newly evolving journalist just out of college. I've earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems. I have a basic knowledge of cyber security as well from my current employer.
Lately my interests have shifted from my original goals of being involved in the realm of computer science and I am now actively participating in writing and journalism. I figure my passion for writing paired up with my technological expertise can do some good for your project. I'm in my early 20's and I have a lot to learn but am devoted to learning it. If this project needs any writing or resource help or if there is an opportunity to for someone like me to learn from it please let me know, I'd be more than happy to help out.

On another note, I myself am starting my own journalistic/arts media project called The Maxson Journal. It's based around the web and paired up with an underground print I plan on running out of my bachelor apartment in Saginaw, MI. Just something to stir things up around here and gain some street credit until I make my way to a bigger city with more potential.
It's still under heavy development (I'm building it from scratch and still looking for contributors) but it's a good indication of some of my skills at the earliest point in my career. http://www.maxsonjournal.org

Best of luck with the project. Please keep in touch with me about its development.

Thank you,
Patrick Snyder
