Thanks much, Barrett. Our story on your departure ran yesterday. Don’t know if you’ve seen it.

Hey Barrett. Thanks for sending and for clarifying. Again – concerns about “blowback” was more re: Anon members, not press or other Metal Gear compatriots.

My understanding is that there’s concern within the group that LE may be closing in and, obviously, concern about anonymity after the leaks, Ryan’s hack, etc. In that context, making noise about continued actions against any target – Sony, as well as .MIL, .GOV and associated contractors is making folks within the AnonOps leadership jumpy. Again – this is the picture I’m getting after talking to some folks. Not sure how well that accords with your take on things?

That's kind of wacky; I actually announced that I'd be leaving a week ago. http://www.anonnews.org/?p=comments&c=ext&i=1541

Even before that, my team and I had established other venues to pursue Metal Gear, although we did still recruit out of Anonops until such time as it blew up. I'm not sure how one would go about "pushing me out" under those circumstances, or any, really. There are several new IRCs run by some of the more competent Anons and I've been invited to work out of them.

I have no idea what they mean by "Anon's leadership" in this context or how my work has threatened anyone's anonymity; it seems that they should probably be more concerned about the massive breach that was allowed to occur by giving responsibility and control to that deranged toy fascist Ryan. Incidentally, Ryan was one of my most enthusiastic detractors.

As for OpMetalGear, I'm not familiar with any "blowback" that's come out of that and I would be the one to know. al-Jazeera has commissioned me to write two articles on what we've turned up in our investigation, the first of which will appear in a couple of days, and I've been working with journalists from The Guardian and other publications on this effort since the very beginning, and none of them are concerned about "blowback."

Hey. Folks I’m talking to suggest that Anon’s leadership may be wary of your public profile and blowback from the OpMetalGear stuff and are pushing you out to protect their own…well..anonymity. Response? True?

One more thing - I'm still providing access to those lawyers to any Anons who need them by virtue of legal troubles stemming from DDOS attacks and that sort of thing.

Background info on Project PM and our initial programs. As I noted, we're now focused on OpMetalGear and facilitating the creation of online activism entities, which we envision forming a loose coalition and working to overwhelm various corrupt institutions by using the most effective methods now available. The way to do this, I think, is to get more people to understand what is now possible and then provide them with the tools and expertise necessary to get involved in the internet wars.
