i'm having a look at the way the FBI has infiltrated the world of hacking. normally people talk about the opposite - how hackers have infiltrated government computers or whatever - but it strikes me that the way the FBI has inveigled its way into the hacker community by turning individuals through threatened prison terms into informants is vv interesting and significant. i read somewhere that a quarter of all hackers in the US may now be informants - not sure if that figure is accurate but i'd like to find out.

the subject was heightened too by the Adrian Lamo role in informing on Bradley Manning to the military authorities and FBI

i'm right at the start of this project, and at this stage am just putting out feelers to people in the hacker world who might be able to help. can you offer any thoughts/guidance or tips on who else i should be talking to. i'd be hugely grateful for any advice
