thank you, barrett.

you are the first person i'm aware of who is inviting people

past the (perceived) barriers to using these seemingly esoteric technologies.

from my pov as a 44 year old,

the "hacker mystique"

is the biggest barrier to participation.

the formlessness and anonymity,

the idea that a handful of geniuses are all that are needed

to bring down massive systems

invites you to imagine that you are totally unneeded.

you might speak directly to this perception

if you want to move numbers to the tipping point.

You might find this useful; it includes tools, info, other useful things for those who are considering getting involved with Anonymous or launching their own efforts to bring about revolution via the information age. http://www.dailykos.com/story/2011/05/02/972425/-Help-Anonymous-help-Iran,-now

Security and tools are peripheral. The main intent here is to make people understand that the environment has changed so drastically that was possible in the past has almost no relation to what is now not only possible but probably inevitable. Individuals who are tired of this system and its constant failures can join together into small groups, learn to use the internet as a weapon, and go about destroying these institutions just as Anonymous has started to do. We just need to figure out the most efficient ways to do this. I'm in contact with a number of people who are developing specific methods, venues, tools by which to increase the extent to which a few people can effectively take on, say, a corrupt federal agency or corporation or lobbyist. We need to get to the tipping point whereby more people realize that this is effective and that they have the duty to do it. From what I've seen, it's possible, and that's what I'm dedicating my life to now. Give me a call if you want to discuss.

i'd like to talk to you about this stuff.

i understand what is being proposed but i don't understand the tools
and im unclear about what's secure and what isn't.

no one i know understands this but, i'm through with the arts.
two years ago i renounced the pursuit of cultural prestige.

i am disgusted with bands and authors
and appalled at the needy desperation
of so many young people for cultural capital---
for what i pursued and accumulated for 20 years;
and now gladly throw away.,

but it's left me with a terrible bartleby complex,

and i do seek a purpose for the second half of my life.

hey barrett,

perhaps the prob with HFC was simply that your targets, espec. bennett,
were already so self-evidently discredited as to need no more stabbing.  When i was reading
it i couldn't help but wish you were lambasting brooks, bretibart, kaus, stossel, samuelson.
everyone has their likely list i suppose.

are you safe and secure and free?

i'm glad you're out there, barrett.....

Thanks for getting me in touch with Scott. He called the first chapter brilliant but doesn't think there's a market for it, which is pretty much what the other couple of agents I tried said.

Barrett,

I used to live on Navajo Trail right off Coit.
I thought Coit was the longest street in the world.

Later we moved to Plano. I graduated from Greenhill in 85.
I also had a late twenties-early thirties dope habit.
The evil fathers.

So we have a lot in common.

If you ever come through Nashville
give me a call at 615-262-5362.

p.s. you should write a book proposal for another book
