Ian and Barrett,

It sounds like you're fighting the good fight here and I wish you both the best. I'm sorry that we couldn't help with polling, but I completely understand that time and budgets are an issue. Still, both Patrick (my partner) and I certainly have a soft spot for the underdog and we're willing to do what we can to help. If either of you would like to have a conference call with us we'd be happy to give you some pointers on gotv and such. Patrick especially has a lot of campaign experience and I'm sure he'd have some great advice for the final push. We're pretty swamped until late next week, but any time from Thursday morning on could work fine if you're interested.

Best,
Jason

Hey,

I forgot to reply to all, but I told Jason we likely couldn't afford his services. The time frame is an issue, too, yet moot. A poll would just confirm what I already know, many people have no idea there's an election, and fewer have ever heard of me due to a near-total local media blackout. The damn Buffalo News ran a profile of "all' the candidates yesterday, which did not include me. Boohoo. Anyway, thanks again for asking, Jason.

And Barrett, I'll be in touch soon about other things.

Ian

Jason-

Thanks for getting in touch as well as for your offer of assistance. I should note that this is a special election to be concluded about three weeks from now, so there probably wouldn't be time for any effective polling; likewise, Ian is an unconventional candidate and I don't know how much use he would have for that sort of thing at any rate. Having said that, perhaps you can be of assistance by virtue of your experience in elections; I served as an advisor to Wynne LeGrow in his 2010 Virginia race against the Republican incumbent but I really have no functional understanding of electoral methodology beyond my role as a speechwriter and consultant on internet issues. I'll let Ian take over from here if he has something to ask of you. Thanks again for your interest in this. Ian, any thoughts?

Hi Barrett and Ian,

Thought I'd say hello and introduce myself. My name is Jason and I run a research company with my business partner Patrick.

The most exciting thing we're up to right now is our consulting work with Suffolk University's Political Research Center. Suffolk does similar work to Quinnipiac, Marist, PPP etc., and currently we're in the midst of their spring polling program, doing early studies of swing-states like Florida and New Hampshire. Typically, however, the bulk of our time is spent on private clients, mostly political work but some corporate clients, too. As it's an odd year we're doing a lot on the town and city level right now, but for the midterms last fall we worked on couple of congressional races.

Alex mentioned that we might be able to help with a project you're working on, but left the details to you. I'd be happy to speak with you sometime this week if you'd like, just drop me a line and we can see what time works best.

Regards,
Jason

Barrett and Ian,

I'm happy to connect you with Jason (CC'd), my guy with the polls. He's a great resource for all things political and may be able to help out. Talk to him about details.

Let me know if you need anything, I'm happy to help out where I can from Boston.
