I haven't been involved in the Sony affair other than hanging around in the OpSony IRC channel a bit every now and then; it's not one of my areas of interest. I have no evidence that anyone associated with Anonymous was responsible for this hack, and it certainly wasn't anyone from the team that did HBGary. Anonops put out a press release denying responsibility, as you may know. Having said that, it's very possible that the incident is nonetheless related to the overall campaign insomuch as that a well-publicized attack by Anon obviously prompts a great deal of attention by others. It's also possible that a group of criminal hackers took the opportunity to pull off this heist and leave Anonymous as prime suspect - a Bloomberg reporter just told me that Sony is talking about blaming us and will potentially go public with that accusation soon.

Meanwhile, we may be launching an attack on Gamma International in retaliation for their attempt to provide surveillance and IT intrusion capabilities to Mubarak regime; this was just decided a little while ago. Right now the fellow who would be launching that attack is having to use his bot army to fend off an attack against our Anonops IRC server, which is being hit from five IPs using 7GBs each - an unusually powerful attack. There are a number of suspects on this one, as there are plenty of entities that would like to see us disrupted right now in particular.

Interesting, thanks for the heads up.

By the way, do you know anything about the Sony online gaming network hack and potential credit-card detail swipe?

Cassell-

We're going after this U.K firm, Gamma International, due to its actions in support of the Mubarak regime during the revolt, as well as due to its likely overall role in the methodology we refer to as Metal Gear.

Thanks so much, and noted on the 'doxing' as it relates to the individual employees. How is that info on the employees gathered - by hacking into email? And, can you send me a link to where it is being posted on the Net?

And, is there a statement from you and/or Anonymous about the reason for the action against Sony and the employees?

Thanks too for the info on the other events, will check it out.

All of that is true except that the attacks on individual employees aren't DDOS attacks, but rather investigations into their activities followed by "doxing," which entails the posting of their information on the internet. I'm not particularly involved in OpSony so I haven't been following closely. Also, I'm in New York this month  as I'm speaking tomorrow at a rally organized by my group Project PM and several other entities, including prominent Anonymous participants like Gregg Housh and anti-war activist John Penley. Speakers will include the head of National Lawyers Guild and a former Army psyops officer. We're also holding meetings throughout the week pursuant to the building of a larger coalition by which to fight back against those who oppose information freedom efforts such as Wikileaks. Rolling Stone and several documentary crews will be following many of the proceedings.  More info:

I'll be making an announcement about the next step in Operation Metal Gear, which is what I've been most heavily involved in for the past month and which we launched via recorded phone calls to executives of Booz Allen Hamilton and former NSA director Mike McConnell. More info on Metal Gear:

Hi Barrett

I wanted to check in with you regarding Sony. Is it true to say Anonymous has launched DDOS attacks against Sony in retaliation for the legal action Sony took against Hotz and Egorenkov under the name OpSony? And, if so, when did the attacks start and against which Web sites?

And, has Anonymous also started launching DDOS attacks against individual Sony employees? if so, which individuals and what are the DDOS attacks against? And, when did those attacks start?

Thanks,
Cassell
