Mr. Brown,
Isis (Laura Sennett) gave me your email address and told me that you were interested in hearing more about her case against the FBI. Myself and another lawyer named Rachael Moshman represent Isis.
I'm attaching a couple of documents that you might find interesting. First, the judge's order dismissing the case (which we are appealing). Among the judge's more dubious arguments: "Indeed, a reasonable person would be warranted in believing that
Sennett's role in the vandalism was to serve as the group's photographer
or videographer, so that a memorialization of the event could be used
to advance the group's purposes and to claim responsibility." In other words, a journalist is criminally responsible for acts of vandalism she takes pictures of. There was no evidence that Isis was "the group's" photographer.
Also, I am attaching a declaration of John Perren, a high-ranking FBI official who was the special agent in charge over Isis's case when he was working at the Washington Field Office. Although Isis's FBI file indicated that Perren gave verbal approval to search Isis's trash and install a monitoring device on her phone line, he doesn't seem to remember much about her.
I'm currently in the process of scanning in the deposition transcripts for the FBI agents that were involved in investigating Isis. I'll email you a copy of them if you're interested.
