Hi Barrett - I just read your article in Skeptical Inquirer that mentioned the Science Journalism Improvement Program (http://www.csicop.org/specialarticles/show/a_modern_solution_to_an_age_old_problem), and wanted to touch base and see if you are still doing it, and what has happened since that article. I’m interested in participating possibly but I don’t feel I need to necessarily benefit from it since I have a science not a journalism background and have been advocating better science journalism and critical thinking for many years. I think I could be of help, possible. I have a M.S. and was a PhD candidate and NSF Grad Research Fellow, and have also been writing for 15 years.
Anyway is there a website for the program? Can you tell me more?
PS Re Flock of Dodos - I haven’t read the book but I saw the documentary. Were you involved with the documentary also? Loved it! I’ll have to check out your book. I have been an advocate of making peace between Christianity and evolution, and opposed to ID obviously, for many years. Though I’m not an atheist anymore, I fully support science, evolution, etc etc and try to educate fellow Christians about it. Uphill battle… I was writing a book for Beacon Press but they cancelled the contract on me. Sigh.
