Subject: Chat with Patrick Frey
From: Patrick Frey <patterico@gmail.com>
To: barriticus@gmail.com

me: Oh, seriously though
me: We're working on something big that should be of concern to everyone'
me: Operation Metal Gear
me: http://piratenpad.de/ep/pad/view/metalgearannouncement/dvIikMTECs
me: take a look at some point if you get a moment
Patrick: OK
me: It's related to efforts by the state and certain firms to basically derail all privacy in pursuit of what's beginning to amount to a pretty nightmarish policy of "information awareness"
me: And I don't think many conservatives want the Obama administration possessing these capabilities
Patrick: No
me: Not that he'll be in office much longer
Patrick: But aren't you guys sort of demolishing privacy too?
me: Of whom?
Patrick: Of anyone that you deem unworthy of it
me: For example?
Patrick: You know: hacking
me: Oh, that
me: Well
me: Look at who we hack and why
Patrick: Hacking someone sort of removes their privacy, no?
Patrick: Right, you deem them unworthy of it
me: Yes, and punching someone involves the use of force
me: But sometimes the punch is understandable in context
me: Like, when you're punched first
me: Such as with HBGary
me: Which built a list of our names and work by spying on our activities
me: and was intending to sell it to FBI before we stole it and gave it away for free
me: Aaron Barr was developing a methodology by which governments could better discover the true identity of anyone who's anonymous of the regular sort
me: of course, it turns out that such methodology had already been developed, a while back, and has been in use
Patrick: OK
me: Anyway, take a look some time. I'm working with a group of very, very conservative types who are extraordinarily concerned by it
me: I think you will be, too
Patrick: Sure, when I get a chance
me: Of course. Thanks for keeping it in mind. It's very important to me and I'll probably be going to prison over it.
Patrick: So when is the big arrest?
Patrick: You know, according to the rumors
me: Hard to say
me: Oh, some of the rumors claimed I was already arrested
me: Unfortunately there are indications that several more have been taken in over the last couple of days
Patrick: Are you going to prison over Metal Gear or something else?
me: Metal Gear most likely
me: I called the former NSA director at home
me: left him a message
Patrick: Oh, they arrested some other dudes recently?
me: hassled a lot of Booz Allen Hamilton execs
Patrick: Did you YouTube that??
me: We think they may have, yes
me: I did it live on our radio program
me: There's a clip of it
Patrick: Link
me: http://ge.tt/639Cmzn
me: I think that has it
me: Otherwise I'll upload it to mediafire, it's on my other laptop
Patrick: I don't approve of your illegal activities and I think you're kind of a wacky guy, but you're also charming in an earnest and goofy way. I'd hate to see you going to prison
me: I don't perform illegal activities
Patrick: And yet you believe you are going to be arrested
me: Our hackers do and so do the people who DDOS attacks against governments and certain corporations that collaborate with governments
Patrick: You openly declare that you aid people who do
me: Yes
me: Those people spent 12 hours a day helping Tunisians
me: A lot of my family served but I didn't for several reasons, one of them being that I don't trust the U.S. government to use its warmaking powers in a wise fashion at this point
me: I consider this to be my duty
me: Anyway, thanks again
Patrick: Well, you're very idealistic
me: Yes, and it's not just a passing phase, either
Patrick: That link didn't work
me: hmm
me: one seconmd
Patrick: Sure you're not embedding a worm on my computer with a link like that??
me: It works for me
me: nah, Forbes linked to it
Patrick: The Metal Gear thing did but the other one is just a blank screen
me: other one?
Patrick: To the clip
Patrick: From the radio show
me: http://www.anonnews.org/?p=press&a=item&i=752
me: http://blogs.forbes.com/parmyolson/2011/03/17/anonymous-the-military-and-fake-virtual-armies/?partner=netscapetix
me: some background
me: what browser are you using?
Patrick: Firefox
me: well, I'll upload the file to mediafire for you later, I can't remember if the call to Mike McConnell is on that radio clip that Forbes et all linked to anyhwo
me: also
me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6N-n83g7nmw
me: here's the first announcement
me: I'd been on Russia Today before but I ended that segment by noting that the FSB clearly bombed Moscow and other cities itself in 1999 to deflect attention from Yeltin's corruption and failures, so I'm surprised I was invited back
me: there's a good article on that subject, incidentally, in National Review
me: http://www.thetechherald.com/article.php/201111/6939/Anonymous-Government-contractor-has-weaponized-social-media
me: background
me: that should be more than enough to get you started
Patrick: OK
me: Thanks again for your interest in the subject. As I noted, it would mean a lot to me if people were to look into it and I'd love to see more conservatives doing so.
