Caleb: A conflicting reason for Crane's recall is detailed in Rabbi David Philipson's book, My Life as an American Jew - An Autobiography, claiming President Taft confessed to him in November 1909, that he asked for Crane's resignation after hearing that upon his election, Crane said, "Well, now that Taft is President, I suppose that Jake Schiff and his Jew crowd will have a great deal to say in our national affairs."[2]
me: Jew crowd
me: well, he's hit or miss then
Caleb: This led Crane to develop an intense admiration for Adolf Hitler, whose Germany Crane considered “the real political bulwark of Christian culture.”
