![]() The Anti-Gun Rights activists are at it again! A historic right to carry lawsuit is currently taking place in the state of New Jersey. The Second Amendment Foundation (SAF), the Association of New Jersey Rifle and Pistol Clubs (ANJRPC), and 6 plaintiffs have filed suit against several New Jersey officials for deprivation of civil rights under color of law. The 6 plaintiffs---who are private citizens---had their gun permits denied on the grounds that they had not proven "justifiable need" to own a firearm. One of the plaintiffs is a kidnap victim, another is a part-time sheriff's deputy, another keeps large amounts of cash in his private business and a fourth is a civilian employee of the FBI who is fearful of attack from a radical Islamic fundamentalist group. If these people are denied firearm permits, then who can legally own a gun in New Jersey? ![]() Please CLICK HERE to donate to the Second Amendment Foundation as we continue to defend our Constitutional right to bear arms. Liberals have made it clear that they want to take away the rights of law-abiding citizens to defend themselves with firearms. WE CANNOT LET THIS CONTINUE. Criminals will always obtain weapons, but we cannot ban the average citizen the ability to obtain a firearm simply because liberals think that will somehow reduce violence. The state of New Jersey is using this claim as a way to simply ban firearms from law-abiding citizens who want to protect themselves. This is absurd and unconstitutional. The Attorney General has defended New Jersey's ridiculous existing laws and moved to dismiss the case. It is clear that liberals will do anything to limit a person's right to defend themselves---even if it means making up a whole new clause in the Constitution. Law-abiding New Jersey citizens have been arbitrarily deprived of their ability to defend themselves and their families for years. The law grants uncontrolled discretion to police chiefs and other public officials to deny license applications even in cases where the applicant has shown a clear and present danger exists. Supreme Court rulings have made it clear that the Second Amendment gives us the right to carry a handgun for self-defense. What does the State of New Jersey consider a justifiable need? Do citizens need guns to their heads or knives to their throats before they are allowed by the State to protect themselves? Here at the Second Amendment Foundation we are escalating our efforts to protect the Second Amendment rights of the citizens of New Jersey and the rest of the United States of America. We will continue to fight on behalf of the plaintiffs in this lawsuit so that the country we love can enjoy the rights outlined by our Founding Fathers in the Constitution. It seems that no matter how many statistics exist to show that allowing law-abiding citizens to own guns actually reduces violence, the liberals never learn. Cities that have strong anti-gun laws, like Washington D.C. and Chicago, are far more dangerous than places like Texas, where gun laws are more relaxed. According to the National Center for Health Statistics, gun accident deaths in the United States have been falling, as well as the per capita rate of such accidents. Over the past 20 years, while gun ownership has been increasing at an average rate of more than 4 million new guns registered per year; fatal gun accidents have decreased by 61%. Liberals believe in a utopian society, where just because good, law-abiding citizens don't have guns, criminals won't have them either. They believe that somehow, more stringent gun control will lead to less violence. This is faulty logic. Criminals are just that---criminals. They're going to use the gun to break the law anyway, so why would a gun law keep them from getting a gun in the first place? It's crazy. All liberals are doing is taking away the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens who could defend themselves if they had a gun. It's time to take back our Second Amendment rights! The Second Amendment Foundation won't let New Jersey take away the rights of those 6 plaintiffs by making up unconstitutional regulations. Nor will they allow liberals in Congress, the Obama Administration or any state legislature attack the Second Amendment by limiting or banning gun ownership. We must fight back against this kind of unconstitutional control. I hope I can count on your support. Respectfully, ![]() Alan M. Gottlieb Chairman Second Amendment Foundation P. S. The liberal mainstream print and media will continue to push for stricter gun control in an effort to limit OUR rights. It's time to fight back against their anti-gun rhetoric and force them to adhere to the United States Constitution. Please help the Second Amendment Foundation with our media efforts. Your donation will make a big difference.
