The only real problem I had with the NBC segment was their failure to note that Anonymous does not have titles. Being a former journalist and media critic, I was aware going in that U.S. television news is limited both by format and perceived audience understanding in what it can convey, so I'm otherwise okay with the coverage from that network. But other media have confused my statements made a week ago to NBC with our ongoing probe of the Pentagon pursuant to Bradley Manning and seem to have decided that Anonymous is in a state of cyberwar with that degenerate institution when in fact we have no intention of hacking into U.S. military assets. We don't have to, as we have active duty military members in Anonymous and they provide us with a portion of the information we need to shine light on certain people.

Also, let me know if the Dutch will give me refugee status. I would promise to behave. Thanks!

Hi Barrett,

So in the end, are you unhappy with the way you’re portrayed by NBC?

Hello, Peter-

I work closely with many Anons at Anonops.ru, an IRC server from which our operations have been launched, and have been doing press for Anon for a couple of months now. Most had no problem with my appearance on NBC and understand that a six-hour interview, edited down to a few minutes, will not necessarily convey what one intends to tell. I do not speak for Anonymous at all and have never claimed to; I am referred to in the press as an informal spokesman or theorist and have also described myself as a strategist, and some media have been better than others about noting that we have no titles or official roles. I should note that although I was loosely active in Anon going back to our early days playing pranks online six years back, it was the chaps who launched Chanology that came to me a year ago after my article Anonymous, Australia, and the Nation-State, and who brought me into their fold; they and others who are familiar with my work within and without Anonymous tend to like me, and sometimes find my antics amusing.

Dear Barrett,

I saw you on NBC and see how on Anonymous forums there has been lots of criticism on your actions. Did you speak with many other Anons before deciding to do this interview? What is your reply to those who say you’re not speaking for them?

Cheers
