Hey Nikki: I like your idea of him being shot in the lounge chair surrounded by magazines and books. But I’d almost rather do it in his apartment to give the shot some context. It gives it a more lived in, newsy element. I think the white seamless would isolate him almost too much. How does that sound? I see it as a full page shot (8x10). I would also need it by next Tuesday. Doable? If so, I could pay you $600 for the new shot and $200 for the previously photographed one (that’s our standard reusage fee). Let me know. Oh and I’d like for the new shot to have a similar tone and color palette to the previous shot. Okay. That’s it. Just let me know if that all works.

Hi Todd!

One concept I had was to surround him with all of his many books
(~100-200), stacks of magazines, and "papa bear" lounge chair (as his
friend described it) from his apartment to a studio and shoot him
surrounded by all of that on white seamless, as well as basic
portraits on white seamless. Another idea was to shoot him at the bar
that he frequents for a different backdrop. These are mainly just to
offer some variety of shots (full, 3/4, headshot, etc) where it may
show him looking at the camera, working, or something else than just a
landscape-oriented close-up shot of him at my house with a downward
gaze at his computer with random stuff behind him.

I am not sure how big the story is (if it's just 1/4, 1/2, full, or
feature). It really just depends on what is wanted/needed for the
story and layout. If the shot Tim sent over suffices, then it
suffices. It's 11.52 x 17.28 in at 300 dpi. I like the shot as well,
but if it's a bigger story and if there's something that may fit the
layout better, then I'm all for shooting some more portraits of him. I
was the former Layout Editor of the Dallas Observer from  2008 to
early 2009, so I understand the varying needs/requirements of
publication layout. It all just depends on what you want.

Thanks!
