Lately of the Village Voice, Barrett and Robbins recently departed the storied weekly, abruptly. Neither reporter has said much in public about the circumstances

Both men will visit the New York Press Club tomorrow to talk about their recent experiences and to field questions about the many issues facing journalists, their craft,
and their employers at a time when the game has changed for all.
Moderator: Juliet Papa, 1010 WINS.
Free admission for New York Press Club members and CUNY J-Students (RSVP please).
Non-members: $15, Students: $5. Visit our Website for more information and to reserve.

An Evening With Bill Keller, Executive Editor of the New York Times
|
Thursday, March 3rd
6:30PM: refreshments, socializing
7:00PM to 8:30PM: program
LOCATION TBA SAVE THE DATE
The executive editor of the New York Times visits the New York Press Club for an evening of banter and Q&A about how the national "newspaper of record" is contending with the
cyclone of change that has swept through media, overwhelming many media companies, disconcerting most others.
A Pulitzer Prize winning reporter before his jump to management, Bill Keller's informed perspectives on the business and practice of journalism, especially these days,
are bound to enlighten and provoke.
The Times has been at the forefront among print dailies in wrestling with the transformative technologies that have changed the way the world consumes news. An early adopter of
Internet delivery, the Times recently announced a foray into e-book publishing. It's first release chronicles how the paper handled the mountain of sensitive government
material provided to it by Wikileaks.
Don't miss this rare opportunity for a face-to-face dialogue with Bill Keller on topics of vital interest to journalists and journalism.
Free admission for New York Press Club members and CUNY J-Students (RSVP please).
Non-members: $15, Students: $5. Visit our Website for more information and to reserve.

Gabe Pressman, New York News Veteran, Celebrates 87th Birthday
|
The New York Press Club sends all best wishes on birthday number 87 to Gabe Pressman, a stalwart supporter and long-time officer of the Club, the president of the New York
Press Club Foundation, and a formidable fixture of the New York press corps as an enterprising and tireless reporter for more than 60 years.
A newspaperman in the late 1940's and early 1950's, Gabe joined NBC in 1954, launching a broadcast journalism career that in stamina, may be without peer. He has reported events
great and small, locally, nationally, and internationally to generations of New Yorkers on radio, TV, and lately, on the WNBC Web site.
A champion of a free and unfettered press, Gabe's prolific reporting has provided facts and context for countless stories over decades, resonating among "ordinary" New Yorkers whose
stories he relishes and which continues to tell.
