Hillary Clinton was shrill when she delivered those words. It's interesting that now, as the Left tries to shut up voices on the Right, she is silent.
To the Left, CONSERVATIVE SPEECH = HATE SPEECH.
That's why they want to bring back the Fairness Doctrine!
 Ever since the birth of conservative talk radio and the Internet ended the liberals' total monopoly over the news, the Left has been simmering with rage---because of the loss of their absolute control over what the Americans are allowed to see and hear, and the Left's inability to do anything about it!
Time and again, liberal attempts to sell the nation their shoddy goods have been frustrated when talk-radio hosts took to the airwaves and warned their millions of listeners that they were about to be taken to the cleaners.
In 2008 and 2009, the McCain-Kennedy amnesty package for illegals was derailed by an army of angry voters who could only find out the TRUTH about the bill from conservative talk radio and the Internet.
After Obama was elected and Barack Obama used our money to go on a spending spree with Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, Congress received the wrath of the voters because they were "informed."
But then, we went too far.
We REJECTED OBAMACARE and we warned Congress their STIMULUS PLANS had unstimulated our bank accounts, and we shouted NO MORE loud enough that the Left heard the message when we voted.
That just about made them lose their minds... so now, they want to bring back the Fairness Doctrine so they can shut us up for good. What's "fair" about that?
The Left succeeded the first time they legislated the "Fairness Doctrine." That's what led to conservative talk radio. And, that's what led to the alternate media on the Internet. NOW THEY WANT TO INCORPORATE NET NEUTRALITY INTO THE FAIRNESS DOCTRINE. The "Fairness Doctrine" was a federal regulation enforced by the FCC between 1949-1987, requiring broadcasters to present both sides of any "controversial" issue. Radio and TV stations faced hefty fines if their stations aired controversial statements on public affairs without providing "equal time" to opposing viewpoints. The result was self-censorship by broadcasters who avoided politics to escape any potential government retaliation.
 Ronald Reagan ended the lopsided and grossly unfair Fairness Doctrine in 1987, and conservative talk radio flourished. Americans were no longer held hostage by an increasingly Left-wing mainstream media that refused to expose the lies of the Left as it concealed the truth spoken by the Right.
It's a shame Ronald Reagan, who is celebrating his 100th birthday this month, isn't here to protect us from Barack Hussein Obama and his socialist-leaning FCC, featuring "Diversity Czar" Mark Lloyd.
Lloyd has outlined six goals which include expanding NPR with money collected from commercial radio stations, expanding the FCC by setting up powerful regional hubs, and regulations over political commentary and advertising.
Lloyd has a frightening view of "diversity" in media:
- He has voiced support for the media manipulation in socialist Venezuela
- He has authored books and documents in which he describes diversity as placing a fee on opposing views, which would then be used to support HIS ideology.
- He has blamed the media for discussing dissenting views about global warming and allowing an opposing view to be a legitimate idea. He believes that when you include opposing ideas, you lose the ability to have a sustained intelligent conversation.

The ambulances had not yet left the Tuscon grocery store before defiant Liberals were taking to the airwaves to decry "conservative" hate speech that had caused this tragedy---when, of course, this assertion had no basis in fact.

Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-SC) is calling for the Fairness Doctrine to be reinstated, telling the Columbia Post Dispatch that it's time to "rethink parameters on free speech." (Clyburn's daughter just happens to be one of the five commissioners on the FCC.) Rep. Louise Slaughter (D-NY) has vowed to look into "more aggressive language monitoring.
One supposes she is not talking about MSNBC host Rachel Maddow.
Media loudmouth Al Sharpton is doing his best to get the FCC to shut down Rush Limbaugh and put more restrictions on "comments" (BY CONSERVATIVES) that "viewers" (LIKE LIBERALS) might "perceive" (DISAGREE WITH) as "racist" (OPPOSITION TO BARACK OBAMA'S SOCIALIST AGENDA).
For years, the Left has had the protection of the mainstream media. But, now the NEW media has thrown them for a loop. It has EXPOSED their radical agenda and their deception of the American people and now Liberals are going to do whatever it takes to get rid of it.
You've seen the lengths to which they will go to defend their agenda. You've heard their lies, you've endured their propaganda.
Mark Lloyd has written a paper suggesting that the Fairness Doctrine was "never formally repealed." Instead, he argues that the FCC merely announced "it would no longer enforce certain regulations under the umbrella of the Fairness Doctrine." The paper continues by stating that while the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the FCC decision, the Supreme Court has "never overruled the cases that authorized the FCC's enforcement of the Fairness Doctrine...thus it technically would not be considered repealed."
The Left is lining up their chess pieces... so I must ask, WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT IT?

The so-called "Fairness Doctrine" is not fair. In reinstated, it would stifle real public debate and hinder commerce. Program managers are in the business of making money! They will choose the profitable Rush Limbaugh Program over anything Air America produces every single time!

P. S. All this talk about the Fairness Doctrine is good news, in a way, because it shows just how desperate the Left has have become. You can be certain that they'll push HARD for a new "Fairness Doctrine" or some other way to silence the opposition.
