To Some of the Gov't Workers Who Think Rude and Nasty Goes With the Job Description:
There are some of us public people who actually know how to come to a gov't office with a few manners. So for those working behind the counter, this one is for you...
If we knew everything that you think we should already know, we wouldn't be at the counter asking what you think are dumb questions. Nor, would we be at the counter trying to explain our situation to you while you're openly and blatantly expressing your annoyance through body language, sighing, and everything else.
Believe me, we have better things to do than come to an office with a long line and and see a gov't worker who has an attitude about something that had nothing to do with us. We citizens are not here to purposely annoy you (at least those of us who have common sense and manners, that is), and we've got better things to do than sit in chairs or stand in a long line in an office that we don't want to be in.
If you don't like your job, then quit it for godssake. Find a job you like, or go back to school so that you can get a job you like. Public Service is just that, public service. And for those of us who have manners and commonsense, we are not the part of the public that came to the counter to give you an attitude because we're having a bad day. So, it would stand to reason if you would please hear our side and let us ask our questions without you treating us like we're someone below your station who came for nothing more than to purposely annoy you there will be a lot less uncomfortability for all parties concerned. Let us ask our questions, give us fair answers that are not bullshit, and we'll all the sooner be out of your face.
Speaking of being below a station, let's make one thing clear. We are not there asking for help, or mercy, or direction, or whatever, because we like the office and have nothing better to do in life. Most of us who are in line at your counter asking for help because we NEED THE HELP. We're not looking for a handout just because we think we're entitled to it. We're not asking for a handout because we're too lazy to work. We are asking for the help because we are having as rough a time as you are financially (and probably also otherwise), so sheesh cut us public a break already.
I know, I get it. There have probably been about 900 a-holes before me that talked to you and treated you like crap. Well just because they did, doesn't mean I or others will. So before you jump the gun and go off on us, or look completely annoyed, hear us out. We might actually have a relevant question and we might actually need some guidance that will help get us out of your office and out of your face faster.
Just like Forrest Gump said stupid is as stupid does, the same goes for anger-fueled ignorance. Don't assume someone is going to come into your office and act like a total ass, unless that's what they actually do when they get to the counter. You're not better than anyone, and you're not above the public's station. Whatever it is that brought us public there, remember to be grateful that you have a job and an income and a means of supporting yourself and your family. Others of us are not so fortunate right now, so give us a break!
