Personal Tax Prep Seminar for Journalists is Tonight |
Monday, January 24th
CUNY Graduate School of Journalism
219 W 40 Street (7th & 8th)
7:00PM to 9:00PM
A few spots remain open for this evening's personal tax seminar designed especially for working journalists.
Before tackling your 2010 return, hear from experts about the kinds of common and not-so-common expenses journalists may claim. Our panelists will provide valuable insights into the many mysteries of the 1040 Form (and its abundance of numbered and lettered schedules) and will offer tips for preparing returns that are less likely to raise eyebrows at the IRS.
Staffers and freelancers will likely benefit from the guidance and practical knowledge of prominent CPAs Alan J. Straus and I. Jay Safier, both members of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants through whose auspices this seminar is made possible.
Moderator: Press Club member John Lieberman, CPA/PFS.
This event is free-of-charge for all. Please RSVP to let us know you will attend.

Become a "Constant Columnist" on www.nypressclub.org |
Announced just one week ago, we've already published several items on the new "The Constant Columnist" page of our Web site.
Contributions from Beatrice Williams Rude include a literary appraisal of
"Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown," playing now at Lincoln Center. Beatrice also examines a recently released biography of David Susskind, a great innovator in broadcasting and theatre.
Media coach Joanne Stevens has contributed a piece in her expert role as news coach that should interest broadcasters, "Flubs are Fine, Just Fix 'Em!"
Open to contributions from all, the Constant Columnist is not a blog, discussion forum or overt advocacy space. It is intended as a platform for journalists to post pieces of general and specific interest on pretty much any topic or flight of fact or fancy. Pieces can be instructional, observational, reflective, reactive - pretty much any kind of prose is likely to be appropriate. The goal is to offer a potpourri comprised of many voices and topics.
Members are reminded of the open invitation to contribute news about themselves to our Member News page. Send us word of changes, accomplishments, and other career developments and we will keep the community posted.
Inquiries and submissions to both The Constant Columnist and Member News can be made by email: mailbox@nypressclub.org.
