check SSL but modify port to 6697... try that.. thats how I have it with kvirc... never used pidgin for IRC so not sure... but Xchat/Kvirc and even irss are good options

I just checked off the SSL checkmark in Pidgin and it didn't work... It was probably trying to use a different port.

Chris yes it does.. Im connected using SSL the network has 10-12 nodes.. some accept ssl ir you get the main one http://www.facebook.com/l/6075bnkUHHsdtDNEqGZ85RzekXQ;irc.openops.org it should I think you are not adding the right port.. let me check

I tried enabling SSL for http://www.facebook.com/l/6075bXQQSWUTWlZqAKFdodndFRg;irc.anonops.ru... It wouldn't work. I was originally going to comment on how the webchat could potentially be dangerous because there's no SSL, but then the IRC server doesn't seem to accept SSL connections anyway.
