Dear ,
Great news! As we previewed in our blog last week, we have added three new features that we hope you'll enjoy.
First of all, we've added a rating system for client instructions. You will be able to rate a client's instructions based on clarity, research required, keyword implementation and whether or not the assignment is appropriate for the quality level requested. When you look at an order from the assignment list, you'll see “Rate these instructions” in orange in the lower right-hand corner of the instructions. Click on this link to rate the instructions on any or all of the four categories. You can rate up to five orders per day, and comments are not available. The client is shown an average of all the ratings for that particular order. You can only rate an order once, even if you look at it multiple times.
Many authors wanted a place to connect with fellow Textbroker writers. We've heard your requests and opened an authors-only forum. The link is under “Home” when you're logged in to your account. You must be logged in and have submitted your writing sample to access the forum.
Most importantly, we've added another service for you to earn money. Clients now have the option to send their accepted articles to a proofreader for correction. Articles ordered at level 3, 4 and 5 can be proofread. Articles ordered at level 2 are not eligible for proofreading. As a proofreader, you will correct spelling, grammar, spacing, basic sentence structure, and obviously awkward sentence structure. Proofreading is not meant to change style, content or facts. Since this is a new service, there may be some bumps and misunderstandings. Please be patient while we introduce the service to our clients and explain how to use it appropriately.
Level 4 and 5 authors wishing to participate must successfully complete a test based on the AP Stylebook's guidelines. Proofreading is not open to level 2 or 3 authors.
The proofreading test is challenging, but authors have successfully completed the test. Many questions involve comma placement, the error that we see most often. Please note that questions can have more than one correct answer. ALL correct answers must be marked to earn credit for the question. You must earn credit for nine out of 10 answers to pass. You can access the test under “Assignments – Proofreading.” Upon passing the test, proofreading assignments will be available here as well.
If you do not pass the test, you can take it again in three months. Right now, results are only shown as a percentage of missed questions. The correct answers are not given at this time.
All proofreaders will be paid 0.3 cents ($0.003) per word for proofreading. The time that you have to complete proofreading an assignment is based on the length of the article. You have 1 hour per 500 words. If the item is more than 4,000 words, you have 2 hours per 500 words. The countdown starts immediately, so please only accept proofreading assignments if you have time to complete them.
The client can ask for a revision of a proofreading and can reject a proofreading. All rejections will go through TB staff for a final decision.
Please note that a client can only ask for proofreading AFTER he has accepted the article. You will be paid for any assignment that the client accepts, whether the client sends it to proofreading or not. We currently don't have a way to let you know if your articles have been sent to proofreading, nor can we send you the proofread version of your article.
I hope that you enjoy the new features. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact us!
Thank you,
Christina Zila
