Hey sweetheart, just had to forward this to you. Background: Jessica is doing 4 A levels when she gets into 6th form - at age 16 (next year) - these will get her into University - they are Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Maths. She is also doing a International Baccalaureate http://www.ibo.org/general/who.cfm and for this she has to choose a topic to do a project on - it can be anything from history to building a robot to sports to anything at all. She has decided to do her project on Formula 1 cars ( I mentioned she knows a great deal about them already) She met one of the Pit Engineers for the Red Bull constructors team at the German Grand Prix last year (they won the Constructors championship and the overall race with their driver, Sebastien Vettell) and they kept in touch via facebook etc and she recently emailed him asking for advice on how to tie in the physics of the cars with her project. She just got this reply which outlines his thoughts and how he could help her. I think its marvelous and I'm very excited about it. If she can get a Journal interested she may be able to get it published. I don't think she has thought that far ahead as she is still in the planning stages but anyway Im excited for her and she is so enthusiastic about every damn thing that she makes me enthusiastic too. Just wanted to share me joy with you :))

Finally my iPod let me copy & paste it :D

"Well hello there, thanks for the congratulations! What an awesome year indeed. Right, well, yoiu are kinda lucky because I did Chemistry and Physics A-Level, so we're on the same wavelength there. Good out of the box choice on the physics of a race car. I studied this at uni in my Motorsport Engineering degree, so again, we can come up with something there! You have a few choices to narrow it down really. An F1 car (like any race car) is made up of a few key components, which you can look at in a 'physics' way. Aerodynamics-all about fluids and forces, very hard on paper, and kind of a black art, tyres - again, about forces, very dynamic forces, so hard to put onto paper, the engine - lots of potential there, chemistry(fuel burning), or physics (pistons moving etc), thermodynamics (water heating etc), or the suspension, lots of forces and calculations to prove them. I would suggest picking either the engine or suspension, and then we can come up with your favourite aspect of that, and then go into that into more detail, and apply it to F1 cars. What do you think? How long do you have on this one? BTW, my work email is gareth.rees@redbulltechnology.com You can get hold of me on that and more of the time too. Sorry I took so long to reply!"

PIGGY!!!!!!!! :D
