RE: Bob Sloan

I have spent a couple of sessions looking through his chaotic website, which is mainly devoted to his advocacy activities regarding implementation of this federal program: http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/BJA/grant/piecp.html  (short enough to read).

I did not find any reason to think he is insincere or not knowledgeable. But I would not recommend that you (or we) partner with him to pursue prison issues because his focus of interest is somewhat narrow.

A better approach would be to have a prison-issue sub-project, like the Africa Project, which would be a collective of people with expertise and interest in prisons who can define as a group what issues and advocacy strategies be pursued.  Bob Sloan would be a good member of this group because of his experience and knowledge--he would also benefit from being a member of such a group because the group would likely also include persons with skills in internet presentation and online advocacy, which would enable him to be a more effective advocate.

Unrelated: the LOOG debate is fascinating to me, I am one of those with zero knowledge of the history of Christianity.

Morning, Clark-

First off, I'm going to be debating the editor of First Things (and former Family Research Council fellow) later this week. Second, I got this comment over the League and was wondering if you'd mind checking this guy out to see if he's someone we might be interested in working with, as I've got sort of an itch to go after the prison industry.

I have been investigating and researching the connections between ALEC, powerful U.S. Corporations (such as Koch Industries), CCA and SB 1070 from January 2010. Posted on my web site: www.piecp-violations.com and on August 19, 2010, on my blog I introduced readers to the relationship between ALEC, their members and SB 1070.

I believe the NPR articles to be factual, well researched and based upon "facts", something Krikorkian seems to be woefully short on.
