My long-term intent here is to trick a large number of erudite and honest individuals who would never seek power on their own into collectively wielding it. Obviously, if I just came out and said that I am establishing an procedural anarcho-technocracy with the purpose of subverting or overthrowing various flawed institutions while gradually accumulating soft power and taking on new objectives and otherwise serving as a distributed shadow government that will only grow as time goes on, many of the people I'm after would be disinclined to join, either because they're not interested in power or because they wrongly think that such an idea would not work. So I recruit by pointing to our work on devising new methods of information flow, improving science journalism, etc, and I get well-meaning people of the sort who *should* be holding power and influence but who are either disinclined to seek it for themselves or would never achieve it under the existing system or both. Obviously, there is more to it, but that is the gist. Only a few people know about this, including Michael Hastings and Barry Eisler.
