Also, I wonder if you should say to potential agents and publishers, "I am WORKING on getting my rights back." Saying that you  already have the rights back might be considered misleading if you haven't officially settled it with Nederpelt yet? Maybe you should forward Drew your D Magazine piece with new book blurb at the end and ask him if you should be promoting the book? Or something like that? And if he doesn't answer -- well It would be just one more addition to your arsenal as you move on.

Thanks, I'll definitely note that on the marketing section. I think I should have a pretty damned good case in terms of my ability to market it, between Project PM and you and Barry and other folks plus my outlets.

Oh, and also:  that league piece was great.

I don’t know ted but you can certainly tell him that you have someone interested in creating more content around the book here in LA (that would be me).

As per below, Barry Eisler has convinced me to withdraw my book from my current publisher (who's a douchebag and hasn't responded to my e-mails since June and probably doesn't even have the money to do the book properly) and take it to an agent, who' likes to first chapter and wants a short proposal, so doing that now.

Very glad to hear it, and thanks for keeping me posted.  Also count me in for whatever I can do to help market the book.

Howdy again-

Ted seemed to like the chapter I sent him and asked me to call him, at which point we mostly talked about the marketing potential, which tends to be the limiting factor; I'm writing up a two-page proposal for him including a section on how I could ensure that the book is a hit. Thanks again for your help with this, and I'll keep you updated.

Barrett, congrats on getting the rights back.  Yes, I know quite a few publishers and agents and I'd like to do whatever I can to help you get this published pronto.  I'm going to make a few phone calls right now and will let you know what I hear.
