Yes, this e-mail address is fine. Password - republicofdesire33. Let me know what else I need to do.On Mon, Oct 18, 2010 at 3:06 PM, Erik Kain <erik.kain@gmail.com> wrote:
I can set you up, too, no problem. This email address okay? I think if I do it you still have to verify, though...but if that still doesn't work I can just turn off the verification altogether temporarily. On Mon, Oct 18, 2010 at 12:04 PM, Barrett Brown <barriticus@gmail.com> wrote:Thanks, look forward to blogging with you. I'm having trouble registering, though; it keeps telling me that my entry for the picture validation doesn't match. I'll try it again when I'm home a little later.

Go ahead and register at the site and be sure to click the verification link that is emailed to you. Let me know when that's done and I'll change over your account to Author this evening.
Very glad to have you aboard. Feel free to post regularly and post short items in the sidebar "Off the Cuff" column by clicking the minipost button at the bottom of the post editor. Categorize all Off the Cuff posts as Off the Cuff (as well as whatever other categories you'd like). We generally don't have any rules, but if you have questions let me know. And we have a pretty great comments section which we encourage all authors to delve into whenever possible (alas, I am blocked from my own website at work so I have to fit combox time in after work which, with an infant and a three-year-old has become increasingly difficult. Which is why someone with lots of money needs to hire me to do this full time!)Once again, very excited to welcome you to The League.

Barrett,I'm definitely interested. Let me talk with some of the others and get back to you.

I'm actually past the busy part of Project PM now that I've delegated much of the responsibility to others (the end goal is for it it to operate without central leadership, which will be accomplished upon completion of the software). Otherwise, I'm mostly just working on film treatments and writing a bit for Vanity Fair, as I'm currently blog homeless; The Faster Times doesn't really interest me as the content is mediocre and there's nothing special about any of it. If the crew of Ordinary Gentlemen would be interested in having me, I'd be honored to write for it with regularity and do what I can to promote it as well. Let me know what you think.

And you are already spread fairly thin, I would think, with Project PM and your various other ventures. I could be wrong, naturally - what do you think?
Cheers

Also, my associate Clark Johnson says you tweeted something about wanting guest bloggers for League of Ordinary Gentlemen; let me know if you guys would have an interest in me posting there on occasion, I'm really fond of that blog.

Okay, we're adding the scientists and their areas into that today, will share with you when it's complete. On Fri, Oct 15, 2010 at 1:09 PM, Erik Kain <erik.kain@gmail.com> wrote:
Cool. Maybe share the Google Doc and I'll see who happens to be available, what they do, etc. Brainstorm from there.

Erik-If there's a particular branch of science in which you're interested, let me know and I'll introduce you to a scientist of that background. At that point, the two of you can discuss what particular story to do; he or she will most likely have suggestions based on their knowledge of what's going on in the field. Afterwards, you can decide for yourself who to sell the piece to, or we can help you to place it if you'd like.

Are we thinking in terms of specific ideas we'd like to pursue, or that the scientists in question might have, or are we just supposed to come up with something we're interested in...?ErikOn Fri, Oct 15, 2010 at 9:50 AM, Barrett Brown <barriticus@gmail.com> wrote:
Hi, Erik-The project I mentioned to you a few weeks back was launched yesterday, and since then we've recruited about two dozen scientists, some of whom have extraordinary backgrounds. We only have five or six good writers at this point (although that will probably change when we post on craigslist's "writing gigs" section, which I don't look forward to), so if you'd still be interested in writing science pieces for sale to mainstream publications, let me know and I can either assign you one of the better scientists or I can share our Google doc listing all of them and their areas of expertise and you can pick one yourself. Here's a link to the announcement which includes more details on how this works and why we've decided to do it; get back to me if you'd like to proceed.--
