Glad you liked it. Also, I mentioned to Allison that I'm serving as campaign consultant to Wynne LeGrow, the Democratic candidate for VA-04. He's the only admitted atheist running in a national election; the incumbent, Randy Forbes, is the founder of the Prayer Caucus and once tried to get Congress to pass a resolution claiming that "the Holy Bible is God's Word." He's going to be appearing on John Knefel's show on the 18th; let me know if you'd be interested in having him on yours as well.

Things are swell. Also, I just put up the piece on you guys at a couple outlets, and someone in the comments linked to thisby way of a suggestion for you guys which I really think you should look into:

Excerpt:

Ever wonder why Rush "Boss" Limbaugh's syndicated radio show is all over the place like the proverbial cheap suit?....
It's because -- ready for this? -- Rush's show was, and presumably still is, given away for free to many local radio stations.
This shocker is because of a little-known practice in broadcast syndication called a "barter deal."....
Here's how a barter deal works: To launch the show, Limbaugh's syndicator, Premiere Radio Networks -- the same folks who syndicate wingnut du jour Glen Beck -- gave Limbaugh's three hours away -- that's right, no cash -- to local radio stations, mostly in medium and smaller markets, back in the early 1990's.
So, a local talk station got Rush's show for zilch. In exchange, Premiere took for itself much of the local station's available advertising time (roughly 15 minutes an hour) and packed the show with national ads it had already pre-sold.

Hi, Allison-

Sure thing.

Submissions to Roger Hodge of Harpers do go through his assistant, but she works closely with Hodge and is more communicative about things than most interns. Hodge's address is gemma@harpers.org.

Michael Hogan, online editor of Vanity Fair may possibly be interested, although you might have better luck just asking him for the print editor. His e-mail is Michael_Hogan@condenast.com, although he appears to be out of town on assignment this week. Assistant online editor is Bill_Bradley@condenast.com

Matt Rothschild of The Progressive may be reached at editorial@progressive.org.

Also, I've pasted below my most updated list of contacts at various other major publications.

I've got a conference call in a little while with Wynne LeGrow, the Democratic candidate for VA-04 who announced that he is an atheist early in the campaign (and who's running against Randy Forbes, founder of the Prayer Caucus) as I'm serving as an advisor and all-around propagandist for them. Afterwards, I'm going to write up a post on Daily Kos, Faster Times (which you should write for as well; it's a True/Slant setup except it pays by quarter based on ad revenue, and you've got a following that could help make that work for you and at any rate you can simply cross-post your blogging) about how you guys are going independent, how that could turn out to be an effective model for journalists, etc, and why people should donate to Citizen Radio. Hopefully that will get you some more subscribers.

Also, a fellow named Adam, former NYT copyeditor, got in touch with me recently for a documentary he's doing on the decline of print and I suggested he contact you. I'll send him another note about what you've been doing on this story, as he spoke to me a lot about whether investigative journalism can survive the fall of print pubs, and you're basically showing that it can.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you. Here's the list.

Hey Barrett-

Yesterday, I visited Villawood, which is an Australian refugee detention centre run by a private company named Serco. I had a very exciting time, including when Serco guard attempted to seize my notes. I've written an article about my visit with the prisoners, a brief history of the mistreatment of Australia's refugees (and how the anti-Sri Lankan propaganda is eerily similar to the anti-Mexican bile,) and about Serco's Erik Prince-like CEO.

I'd like to avoid the General Submission Pit Of Doom i.e. getting rejected by an intern that won't even read it. Any ideas for publications that might be interested? Tried your RS contact, but it appears as though the email no longer exists.

Lemme know & hope you're well

Allison Kilkenny
