Hello Campbell,

to clarify this to you: we built a complex system beyond a basic CMS in Drupal which allows people to build sites within it. That means we have one theme and not multiple.  We have a proprietary design component that allows not a theme change but a modification on the front end.

We are making a major overhaul to it next year.  The system is built on 5.3 (not, I am not confused-it is an old version) and we are switching.  Now- the question is 7.0 released before we make the switch?  If so, we will do it in 7.0 versus 6.x.

I cannot allow you to access the Drupal code etc of our system because even if Drupal is open source we will not disclose how we built our system.

From our conversation it sounds very much as if you want your own Drupal system and we cannot a.) via our system give you admin access b.) built a custom system given our agreement with Barrett.

As said, review please, bizwall.net of what we can offer out of the box or we can happily provide to you with the design and the psd file and you mark up the theme.

Hi Nathalie -
Sounds like you host multi-site with your Drupal installation?  It should be no problem, since themes are portable between installations.  You can develop the theme on your system, and then send us the theme directory to copy into our system. I should be able to just drop it into my installation and it will all work.

But we should straighten out the version question.  I think you might be a bit confused here: the current versions available are 5.13 and 6.19, with support for the 5.x branch being dropped when we release 7.0.  I think your comment means you're on 5.13 now and are moving to 6.19 in the new year, but can you confirm for me?

At this point I've built our site on Drupal 6.19.  I have no problem translating a Drupal 5.x theme to Drupal 6.x compatibility if that's what's required... let's just make sure that that IS what's required!

Many thanks,

C

Hello Campbell,

it is actually a pretty complex Drupal version since it is a start-up of a major platform.  You cannot modify our Drupal code since it host multiple complex system.  But we have a fair amount of modules (and adding new ones) that will become available to you as we release them.

The current version is in 5.3 but we are upgrading to 6.0 with the new release at the beginning of next year.

Hi Nathalie -
That sounds perfectly fine - if you use Drupal for your work anyways, I'm sure the differences will be slight, if any.  The only questions I have are:

1) When you say "drupal-based", do you mean that it is vanilla Drupal?  Or a modification?
2) What version of Drupal is your system based on?

Many thanks,

Hello Campbell-

yes, we have worked with several CMS system before.  I have no problems helping you with the design, and we can offer you to use our Drupal based CMS system.  But because we doing a previous barter agreement with Barrett, we cannot include customization of Drupal or design integration with the design if we are not using our platform.

As said, I am more then happy to get the design ready for your platform as a psd file and a coder can mark it up and integrate it or free of charge integrate and offer you the use our our CMS platform.  If you need us to integrate it into your CMS system (Drupal or Wordpress based), we have to review the constraints and the labor involved into the integration and give you a cost estimate.

Best,
Nathalie

Hi Nathalie -
I'm Campbell, one of the ProjectPM people who's handling the website.  We've already got a site together on the Drupal platform, but we would really like your help with the design of the site.  Have you worked with Drupal or other CMS system templates before?

Also, I'm very aware that you're going on hardly any information in building out the design so far.  What information could we get you in an ideal world that would make the site easier to design?  Do you have a normal set of definition questions that you ask, or collateral that you're used to receiving?

Many thanks,

C
