I spent some time on the Twiki website. The 'presentation' screen is informative.
Appears to be a great program. It looks to me as if, were we to use it, we would need a server or hosting (see http://www.emwd.com/twiki.php for low-cost hosting). We would also need a person (or a firm commitment by specified collaborators) providing both the skills and the time availability to set up and administer the wiki on an ongoing basis.
We have been using Google programs because they are free, usable by unskilled users, Google stores them, and we meet with relatively lower resistance than otherwise when we ask newcomers to open a Google account and access the programs. We will need to consider these factors before embracing other programming.
