First, I want to ask you a question - if evolution is true, how come people aren't still evolving from monkeys? Huh? HUH?
Anywho, our weekly meetings tend to go on for an hour or two but you need not be involved for the whole session; we have people coming in and out depending on their schedules. Tomorrow we'll have our lawyer Clark Robinson out of Chicago, a financier named Scott Mintz who's actually a longtime reader of yours and who found me through you, a fellow named Tim Ellis who's helping to run a lot of technical aspects at this point and who runs a marketing firm, and I think Mano Singham, a physicist who's the author of a number of books on atheism and evolution and who's head of the innovation in teaching department at Case Western, among other things, and who's going to be heading up our program to improve science journalism when that gets launched next week.
As for the software, we'll definitely want you to take on the app that we're designing to connect bloggers into the network I've described for you (I think - let me know otherwise and I'll send you some schematics) as well as to help us figure out a key problem we're facing in terms of compatibility across different platforms and all that; I'll have our more technical guys fill you in a bit more tomorrow. Additionally, we might decide to implement something on our website, the basic version of which is being put together now; we're about to make a decision on what capabilities we'll need for the site and should have that down fairly soon.
One more thing - you have more than sufficient knowledge to write good science articles for a general audience if we paired you with one of our scientists, which is basically what we're doing with the science journalism project I mention above (and which I'll describe in further detail in my next Skeptical Inquirer column in which I announce it). Pending further details, would that interest you? I've got a couple of reasonably well-known writers like Erik Kain lined up as well as a number of scientists from various fields, we'd help to get them purchased by the publications in question, and you'd keep all the money. Basically this is a plan by which we hope to essentially mass-produce accurate, readable science articles and thereby improve one particular sector of journalism that's severely lacking. Give it some thought; we can discuss further tomorrow or later at your convenience if you have any interest in learning more.
Also, did you ever contact Sam Apple at The Faster Times about syndicating your stuff over there?
