Thanks! Yes, I'm really done with my association with the 'right' quite frankly, though I find many on the reasonable-right quite compelling and honest figures. I've just come to the place where I can't support the coalition any more. If liberalism ever becomes so vacuous and dangerous and conservatives stand up as the honest and principled defenders of freedom and egalitarianism, then perhaps I will once again support them. Now is not such a time. And I quite honestly shudder to think of their return to power.

Happy hunting. Sounds like fun!

Cheers

Erik

No problem. I'll be off hunting for the next three days but will be reachable on my blackberry if you have any other questions. Also, been reading a lot of your pieces via links from Sullivan lately as well as your fellow bloggers at League of Ordinary Gentlemen, it's all very top-notch and I'm happy to see that you're standing astride the reasonable con outlets and reasonable lib outlets.

Barrett,

Thanks. I've been blogging at Balloon Juice lately, but I'm always on the prowl for more worthwhile places to post, to get ideas out there and good feedback.

I appreciate your time.

Cheers

They don't pay (except for a couple of in-house people they've hired like Sam Stein and whatshisname McGee. Mostly, I cross-posted stuff there from T/S just to get more eyeballs on it. After they've accepted first piece, they set you up with blogger dashboard so you can submit automatically. I do recommend it as it a means of getting an issue some additional play. Like, you could cross-post your stuff from Ordinary Gentlemen and even link back to it at the bottom. Contact there is Cara, cara@huffingtonpost.com.

Barrett, thanks. Also, how does HuffPo work? I'm curious - is that a paid gig?

Sure. Sam Apple's an old friend of mine and I figured it would work as an easy outlet for those occasions when I'm inclined to get something out quickly or otherwise write something without having to convince an editor that it will "work for them" as editors often don't know what the fuck they're talking about, which is why I liked True/Slant. So, this is another no-hassle outlet of the T/S sort. They pay quarterly based on a percentage of ad revenue; I don't think there's much money in it, but I like to have something other than HuffPo where I can get something up quickly if need be. Let me know if you have any other questions, I'm around if you want to IM me.

I see you've started writing at The Faster Times. Mind giving me some feedback? They offered me a gig there as well. Any thoughts on your experience so far would be appreciated.

Thanks

Erik
