I imagine you saw this, and for that reason I hesitated before sending you an NYT link, but the article rather strikingly reinforces what you have been saying about the potential (it's actual in this case) transforming (and positive) effect of the internet on informational institutions. A new paradigm of peer review that is described in this article embodies some elements of a wiki, some elements of reddit, but some Project PM concepts, too. The internet becomes one of the peers---instead of just some designated experts reviewing, interested experts can review--because the institution (the net) in effect brings them into the community of commenting peers.
