Hi Barrett,

Just wanted you to know Sandy and I are thinking of you, and are excited about an incredible life that awaits you.

Your mom, and I want nothing more than for you to have a life were your dreams are realized, and are truly happy
doing what you love. Many times I am sure you think we are out of touch with what is going on with young people
today. I had the same thoughts many times about my parents, and I am sure your mother did too.

I read an article recently  that spoke with great insight on this, and it went something like this. A young child  believes
their mom and dads can do no wrong, and know everything. As teenagers, they believe their parents are basically
idiots, and can't do anything right. As they become adults, they decide they were right about a few things, and
as they grow older themselves they come to the conclusion that they were right about a lot of things. By the time
the parents are gone, they miss more than anything that counsel of their parents who they know only wanted the best
for them.

I am proud of you for taking this first step. It shows me that you can make a choice that requires maturity and resolve.
Your mother and I will stand by you, and help in any way we can. We can only do so much, and the rest is up to you.
I love you son, and I know you have what it takes inside to make a great life for yourself.

I love you.
DAD
