Love your VF article about Hastings getting bashed by "journalists". I'm surprised anyone is shocked that the story broke in Rolling Stone, which I've always believed had excellent journalists.
Ever since 2003, journalists have been terrified to criticize the military and war. Basically it was a newspaper's corporate owners sucking up to the Republicans. Well even though the Democrats run the show, the corporations desperately try to control the media. And hey, they all love war!
As for Mr Hastings, tell him I am such a huge fan I want to marry him and have his love child. It's wonderful to discover journalists who report on what is actually happening vs what the military's p.r. folks want to show. As for McCrystal, if he was so dumb to talk to a journalist without checking his creds, to speaking every thought that came into his head to a journalist, then Obama is better off without him.
I hope Hastings continues to report on Afghanistan because at last there will be one reporter I trust. It's unfortunate Obama let himself be bullied into staying in this awful place and increasing troop levels. It may be his downfall.
