This
is Barrett Brown; I an author and contributor to Vanity
Fair, The Huffington Post,
and other publications, and I'm serving as an editor for a book currently
being written by actor/producer Pat Stack that's targeted towards
entertainment professionals in general and aspiring actors in particular; the
kick is that it deals with how to advance one's career in the industry by way
of tactics used by salesmen. Stack himself started out as an actor (Rambo,
Dynasty, Cheers) and a comedian (worked with Nathan Lane, who was his roommate
at the time) but moved to sales in the early '90s due to the necessity of
raising a family. He ended up making millions as Yahoo's first ad salesman; in
2002, he started his own production company and remains a producer to this
day. Among other things, the book draws upon conversations with old industry
buddies like Brian Dennehy, with whom he's been working closely for
years.
Let
me know if you'd like to see the proposal or if you know someone else who
might be interested.
