Hello Matt,

I'm working with Barrett on Project PM and I'm pleased to meet you--sounds like we look at the world the same way. I have not seen Prodigy, but I am old enough that I saw Janis Joplin.  In another e-mail message I am "sharing" a Google document with you which describes our work to date on Project PM's first sub-project, the Africa Development Program. If you can not access the Google document, e-mail me back and I will copy the document into a Very Long e-Mail (it's all text) and send it to you.

In the document you will find a variety of information, including a list of articles Barrett has written relating to Project PM (my favorites are http://trueslant.com/barrettbrown/2010/03/20/the-internet-skepticism-and-self-perpetuating-revolution/ which is what got me interested in the project and http://www.vanityfair.com/online/daily/2009/08/the-trouble-with-charles-krauthammer.html which is not about the project but illustrates the necessity of it.)

You may be asking why I am sending you material about an Africa charity instead of a media reform effort. We see the two projects as essentially the same effort at the underlying level: how do we capitalize on our newly increased ability to share knowledge for the benefit of our community and the world? There will be more media project activity later in the summer, and I am quite glad we went ahead with the charitable sub-project in advance of the main project, because we are learning a lot about working together online. In the document you will see that we are learning that e-mail is a good tool, and everybody-putting-comments-in-a-long-document is not so good. I am currently experimenting with a blog-like format to see if that will work better as a record of our efforts, and I will share that with you if it works.

Take a look at this material and send us your comments and particularly your questions, and I will talk to you more about your interests and available time.

Welcome to the project,

Clark Robinson
