I think you're correct, and I've been leaning toward that approach anyway, so that's how we'll proceed; perhaps we can set up some sort of benchmark in advance in order to determine when the networks are ready to go sovereign, although we'll probably want to retain some degree of control even afterwards just in case. Also, spoke to Scott Mintz by phone today; he's definitely going to be one of our more invaluable contributors in terms of his skill sets and willingness to take initiative. Also had a meeting last night with Jeremy Sapienza, whom I've cc'd on this e-mail in order to introduce the two of you. He's a writer and editor and is particularly enthusiastic about PM.
Pretty soon, I'm going to be setting up another Google Doc which we'll use to hammer out the specifics in terms of how exactly the governing network ought to operate. There have been several discussions along these lines over the past couple weeks and although certain aspects seem pretty certain at this point, we have several very crucial decisions to make. I'll open the document soon with our existing notes along with the questions that remain to be decided.

I got a gmail account & updated the charity's google doc with it.
My thoughts on governance:
- You, Barrett, should control the entity at least until it is a functioning internet presence and achieving some of your objectives.
- Nevertheless, set up the governing network (with "constitution") but use as an advisory body in interim.
- Identify milestones that may indicate readiness for hand off of control.
Dangers of letting go too soon:
- If, in early operational stages, software revisions are desirable, you may want to move fast.
- You may attract enthusiasts who would like to graft their ideas to the project; you want to be free to lovingly reject such without proceedings.
